The short version
Stride is a local-first app. Your habits and their history are stored in a database on your device. We do not run servers that store your habit data, we have no user accounts, and we cannot see what you track.
Your habit data
Everything you enter in the app — habits, schedules, completions — stays on your phone. It is included in your device's standard backup (iCloud on iOS, Google Drive on Android) under the terms of those services, and you can export it yourself as a JSON file from Settings at any time. Deleting the app deletes the local data.
Analytics
The app collects anonymous usage analytics through PostHog (hosted in the United States) — events like “a habit was created” or “a backup was exported”, plus device model, OS version, and app version. These events are keyed to a random anonymous identifier and never include habit names, notes, or any content you type. We use them solely to understand which features matter and to keep the app working well.
What we never collect
- Your name, email address, or any account information — there are no accounts.
- The names or contents of your habits.
- Your location.
- Anything for advertising — there are no ads and no data sales.
